Actions to take concerning the heart

  • Delighting yourself in the Lord will result in the fulfillment of your desires. Psalm 37

  • Brokenheartedness guarantees proximity to God. He is near to the brokenhearted, guaranteed. Psalm 34:18

  • Sacrifice your heart to God; lay your heart bare (naked) before God. Hold nothing back; the more your nakedness is revealed before God, the more intimacy increases and trust develops because you trust those you share your secrets with. So lay your heart bare before God, the guts, the fat, the bile, every way in which your blood flows, the ups and the downs. Be broken/grieved by the state of your heart. Psalm 51:17, Psalm 62:8

  • Believe that even when your heart fails, when you have fellowship with God, he becomes the strength of your heart and will sustain you. Psalm 73:26

  • Be firm in your heart, trusting in the Lord, even when receiving bad news. Psalm 112:7

  • Believe that God heals the brokenhearted; he binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

  • Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

  • Hold fast and do not let go of the word of God and keep God’s commandments in your heart. Proverbs 4:4

  • Guard your heart with all vigilance (set guard rails about your heart to keep out all impurities, outbursts of anger, all offenses, jealousies, gossip, lies, arguments, partiality). Set boundaries concerning your heart; flee from situations that taint your heart and don’t reflect or want to reflect the nature of Christ. Guard your heart as a treasured well and think of the water from that well as water that you will drink. Considering this, then what will you allow to enter into that treasured space? Especially knowing that what enters the place of your drinking water can make your household sick? Do you drink bitter waters, gossip water, the water of jealousy, waters tainted by envy, water of anxiety? Resulting in experiencing rotten bones, swelling bellies, and miscarrying the promises of God? Guard your heart, for the issues of life flow from there. Proverbs 4:23

  • Keep hope alive. Proverbs 13:12

  • Keep envy out of your heart. Proverbs 14:30

  • Keep your heart free from disturbances; maintain tranquility.

  • Maintain a gladness and cheerfulness of heart. Proverbs 15:16, Proverbs 15:15, Proverbs 17:22

  • Observe the rise of arrogance in your heart and respond to rid yourself of it. Proverbs 16:5

  • Be not quick to anger.

  • Observe that the state of the heart reflects the man. Who you truly are and how you truly are is reflected in the posture and outcomes of your heart. Proverbs 27:19
